Maldives Crowned as the Top Selling Destination

Maldives is once again voted by UK travelers, as the most popular destination they want to visit in 2012. The poll conducted for Kuoni’s annual travel trends report, revealed that despite the gloomy economic forecast in Europe, private resort islands in Maldives were still preferred by UK customers. With enduring popularity, Maldives has been Kuoni’s top destination for the last six years (since 2005), while likes of Mauritius and Kenya were dropped out of the list this year.

Along with Maldives, the runner-ups of 2010, Thailand and US upheld their places on top three, while Sri Lanka moved up to the fourth place of the ranking. China and Hong Kong, the new comers are listed as one destination on 8th place and Singapore comes in at number 10.

In specific holiday categories, Maldives proved unbeatable as the Top Honeymoon Destination while Kuramathi Island Resort is the Best Holiday destination voted by UK travelers. Recovering from bruises of a civil war, Sri Lanka has made commendable progress in Tourism sector in the recent years, topping two major categories in Kuoni poll, the Top Adventure Holiday and the Top Wedding Destination.
